Hans Peter Hiby has been working together since the 80s in various formations and again

and again in duo with drummer such as Paul Hession (who released the great record

"The real case" as a duo), Martin Blume, Louis Moholo and many others with whom he

repeatedly developed new music ideas and crossed boundaries in cooperation. Now he

meets the Japanese drummer Shoji Hano, one of Japan`s most famous drummers, who

is best known in Europe for his interplay with Peter Brötzmann,  Hans Reichel, Olaf Rupp

and many others.

The Hiby/Hano Duo promises high energy free jazz of highest quality.

Hans Peter Hiby met Paul Hession in his hometown Wuppertal in February 1986.

The two decided to work as a duo and they toured later that same year, playing in

the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland Austria and Germany. This was the first of

many tours for the duo and they recorded a vinyl LP „The Real Case“ in Düsseldorf

in 1988. They work in the field of free jazz and European improvised music. The

complex structures of their improvisations reveal a high degree of sensitivity and

narrative expression, despite all the explosive dynamics. It is important for the duo

not to be constrained by fixed templates in order to be able to give free run to

musical expression and feelings, to work and play with space, environment and all

external and internal influences in order to develop them in a common dialogue.

This is an exciting process both for musicians and listeners.

Bauer and Marcio Mattos the "Hiby/Bauer/Mattos/Blume Quartet" with whom the

released the live recording "Live in Bremen" in1992. After a longer musical break of

Hans Peter Hiby, they gave concerts together again in duo as well in different quartets
